Over the years Angus Doggett and his heirs were known as rum runners and the manor house their headquarters. It is even rumoured that Al Capone met with Doggett on one occassion as he was headed to his liquor warehouses on St. Pierre-Miqulon in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
