July Belongs to Halifax

kiss, kiss concertI would venture to say that nowhere else in the world has three (3) such high-profile things going on within a matter of seven (7) days as Halifax, Nova Scotia. And when those are over the summer still has six (6) more weeks left!

July 11  – Paul McCartney

“Macca” invades Halifax in a few days and already the spectacular stage is rising in the Halifax Commons. Guaranteed to the the “show of a lifetime” both die-hard Beatle fans and rock-and-roll enthusiasts will be in 7th heaven when McCartney’s band-on-the-run hits the stage. Incidently, it is Sir Paul’s only scheduled Canadian visit this year.

July 16 – Tall Ships

On the 16th the first of the tall ships will arrive over the horizon to delight the tens of thousands of people scheduled to come and see them. And with the concert-goers in the mix the weekend should be a real screamer in the pubs.

July 18 – Kiss!

Get out your make-up or just go down to the concert to see the “Kiss Army” assemble. The second of a one-two in Halifax this summer is another rock legend and they will deliver regardless of the noise by-laws. (Actually, the city is forgiving high decibels for this occasion).

So see you in Halifax!

I’m going to catch Paul in DC on Aug. 1 – I went to a show of his during the last tour and it was great – one of the few concerts I didn’t want to end.
