Submitted by Kim on Tuesday, 5 May 2009No Comment

marathons, city matathonThe Bluenose Marathon is now in its 6th year and has grown both in the number of racers entered and the scope of the attraction. Not all people like to race but many love the excitement generated by the race and loved to get involved as spectators or volunteers.

In addition, the race has spawned offshoots that are well-worth mentioning. The website http://www.bluenosemarathon.com is offering training Team Myles, a list of programs suited to racers and people who want to begin the process of becoming a racer. This means that Uncle Jim with the big paunch can get started with training for the 5K Walk and meet others who are working hard to shed pounds and get their cardio-vascular system in good shape. Not only that he can get online and tell the world his plans so he can get online support from like-minded Team Myles members.

Full Marathon (May 17th)

The Scotiabank Full Marathon and the Volkswagen Half Marathon begin together at 9:00 AM in downtown Halifax, at the Brunswick Street START – FINISH LINE, near the historic Town Clock located on Citadel Hill.

Half Marathon (May 17th)

For 2009, the Half Marathon will be staged solely on the Halifax side. The route has been designed to showcase the City of Halifax. Full marathoners and 10K participants cross the Macdonald Bridge into Dartmouth.

The 10k participants can experience of crossing the Macdonald Bridge into Dartmouth and back before returning to the finish line.
