DesBarres Manor Inn – Chedabucto Bay
Located in the charming seaside village of Guysborough on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore is one of Nova Scotia’s luxury bed and breakfasts, the DesBarres Manor Inn. It still bears the name of Justice W.F. DesBarres, the man who built it for his own home in 1837.
The Rooms
DesBarres Inn features ten (10) spacious and unique guest rooms, each named after a local geographic feature or historical person. For example, the is the Wolfe Room, named after the famous British General who died fighting a victorious battle for Quebec in 1759. Then there is the Cook Room, named for Captain James Cook, the first European to visit New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii.

How about the dining room? In 2008 the Debarres Motor Inn was presented the Nova Scotia Cuisine of the Year Award for exceptional East Coast dining. The dining room features an 18th century hearth fireplace or you can walk through the French doors to dine on the Grand Deck. In addition,the Manor has a secluded private dining room to accommodate groups of up to eight, perfect for your most special occasions.
If you want a taste of old England you can play a round of croquet. Or how about a private yoga class?
Manor guests also have access to the outdoor pool at their sister property, Osprey Shores Golf Resort. The Located on a beautiful 60 acre peninsula extending into beautiful Guysborough Harbour, Osprey Shores features one par 5, six par 4 and two par 3 holes. A perfect balance of challenge and fun, the course engages golfers with water and sand hazards, “blind” tee-offs and occasional dog legs. With a 1 handicap, the par 5 hole number 9 provides the unique challenge of an opening tee shot over Mussel Cove.
How to Get There
DesBarres Manor Inn is a leisurely 4 hour drive from Halifax along the Eastern Shore following the scenic Marine Drive Trail. Located halfway between Halifax and Sydney enroute to Cape Breton the Inn is only 25 minutes off the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 104).
Travelling from the Halifax International Airport, take Exit 37 approximately 20 minutes past Antigonish at Monastery. Turn south onto Highway 16, which leads directly into the beautiful seaside village of Guysborough.

I like the design of the furniture, it is clear that some though has gone into the style and decor and I am sure that the rest of the inn is just as nice.
