It’s Golf Season in Nova Scotia!

Submitted by Kim on Wednesday, 15 April 2009No Comment

golfThis weekend select golf courses all over Nova Scotia will shake off their winter sleep and feel the excitement of golfers experiencing their first 9 holes of the season. All that pent-up energy from hours on digital courses and watching Tiger Wood’s resurgence is transferred to their own clubs as they taste the spring air.

As April goes forward the grass will be dryer and get greener,  and the air will get warmer, but for now the excitement of getting out there on the first days of the year overrides the discomfort.

It is usually the western part of the province, the areas down the Annapolis Valley and South Shore, that will open first – usually late March – and by the end of April the southwestern half of the province will be in full swing.

Be prepared for early season deals designed to get players out on the course while seasoned golfers wait a few more weeks. This puts players on the links and into the lounges and pro shops where, it is hoped, they will begin to spend money. There are also early season sales to be had as some shops are eager to get rid of last season’s accessories.

As you grab your “sticks” you might find that they need repairing. However most pros agree that your swing will probably need more fixing that your equipment.
